GOD

We believe there is one divine being who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  While our human minds cannot fully grasp everything about God’s nature, it is still possible to know Him and live in a relationship with Him.  God created everything that exists in the universe.

JESUS

We believe Jesus is the eternal, divine Son of God.  He voluntarily gave up his rights as God to live on earth as a human being.  Jesus was born of a virgin, and lived a perfect, sinless life.  Even though he was perfect, he was executed by crucifixion on a cross.  However, three days later he bodily arose from the grave.  He then went back to heaven where he now serves as the mediator between God and man.  At the end of time he will visibly return to earth.

The Holy
Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit lives in every person who follows Christ and has received God’s salvation.  He guides Christ followers in understanding and applying the Bible to their lives.  He helps people change to become more like Jesus Christ.  The Holy Spirit empowers, and equips Christ followers for the purpose of building up God’s kingdom, the church.

People

We believe that people are created in God’s image. This fact gives every person inherent value and worth.  God passionately loves people.  However, every person has chosen to disobey him. There is no one who is perfect, everyone has sinned.   The result of disobedience places us under God’s judgment and would cause us to spend eternity in hell.

Sin

God designed us and desires the best for us.  However, we have a natural tendency to rebel and live with an attitude of disobedience towards Him.  This attitude and resulting action is called sin.  It is sin that breaks our relationship with God and forfeits our right to the quality of life he offers.  There is nothing we can do by ourselves to make things right with God.

Salvation

We believe God provided a way for our relationship with him to be restored.  Jesus came to earth to pay the debt that every person owes to God by substituting his life for ours.  He died in our place.  While we cannot earn our salvation, we must personally decide to receive God’s offer of forgiveness.  We do that by, placing our trust in Jesus, turning from our self-centered life to a God-centered life, verbally declaring that we are a follower of Christ, and being baptized.  After we have done these things, we have God’s promise that he will forgive our sins and live in our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God’s only message to people.  He communicated its contents by divinely guiding human authors called apostles and prophets.  The sixty-six books of the Bible are entirely accurate, complete and final.  We look to it as our only guide for spiritual matters.

The
Christian
Life

Once our relationship is restored with God, we naturally want to spend time with Him and know Him better. The Holy Spirit enlightens us as we read God's Word, as we communicate with Him in prayer, and as we enter into loving relationships through Biblical community with other Christ followers. In this way we begin to know God more intimately. The process of spiritual development, becoming more like Jesus, motivates us to seek ways to serve God and prepares us to spend eternity in fellowship with Him.

The Role
of
the Church

Life is all about relationships.  The church is a community of people who have received salvation and have new life because of Jesus.  The church is like a body—there are different parts, with different functions, but each part works together to make the body healthy.  The church exists to let people know about Jesus and how life with God can be restored.   People who follow Christ grow as they meet weekly to celebrate God’s love, pray, learn about the Bible and remember Jesus’ sacrifice through communion.
